Ballweber to Speak at Pearl River Basin Coalition Workshop on November 13, 2005

Jeff Ballweber, JD, Associate Director for Gevernmental Affairs with the GRI, has been invited to speak at a Pearl River Basin Coalition (PRBC) workshop to be held at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science in Jackson, Mississippi, on November 13, 2004.

The PRBC is a group of concerned citizens and scientists who have come together to identify, evaluate, and support specific actions relating to the protection and conservation of the natural integrity of the Pearl River Basin. This group will champion river conservation issues in the Jackson area and will expand to include the entire river basin. The Coalition's major focus will be on river conservation, education, advocacy, observation, and study. One of the Coalition's goals will be to enhance communication and collaboration among concerned citizens with a central theme of conserving the health of the Pearl River.

The workshop will focus on the value and importance of a healthy watershed, what a healthy watershed is, its functions, etc. The target audience will be the general public. Sponsors of the workshop are the Mississippi Wildlife Federation, the Jackson Audubon Society, and the Mississippi Urban Forestry Council.
